Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is a working accountant who supervises the functions of the accounting department including payroll responsibilities.  They maintain an adequate system of accounting records that enhance the company’s reported financial results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Purchasing staff
  • Oversee the activities of accounts payable, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, credit card transactions, purchase orders and employee expense reports
  • Oversee the activities of accounts receivable to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable components, including invoicing, cash receipts application, collections management and sales tax compliance
  • Partners with Controller to maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of systems, processes and data, and enhance the Company’s value
  • Partners with the Controller to structure the team’s work plan and  work flows for continual improvement.  Leads efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals opportunities for professional growth
  • Partners with Controller in managing the monthly accounting close and holds self and others accountable to timelines
  • Processes journal entries
  • Ensures that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled as part of the monthly close
  • Audit and post subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger, ensures all subledgers are reconciled to the General Ledger (AP, AR, Inventory and WIP)
  • Becomes subject matter expert of ERP system; ensures Schlosser team members are using the system effectively and in a manner that provides accurate accounting information
  • Review and accounting close work orders
  • Prepares Financial Statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement).  Works closely with Controller in understanding and communicating results
  • Partners with team to ensure physical inventory and inventory adjustments are consistently completed.
  • Maintains a cash flow forecast
  • Performs any appropriate duties assigned by the Controller.
  • Performs assigned duties with minimum personal supervision.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • 6+ Years of progressive accounting and management experience 
  • Solid organizational skills; able to multi-task and complete requests in a timely and professional manner, with great attention to details.
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership skills
  • Strong cost accounting background
  • Accounting or finance degree with strong understanding of GAAP
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Ability to learn custom software
  • Resourceful; can devise creative solutions to problems.
  • Read and write English.
